In previous versions of XenMobile—9.0 and below—we had a few main components:
1) MDM or Mobile Device Management Server for Device management and enrolments.
2) AppController Server for MAM enrolment,Web, SaaS, Enterprise apps.
3) NetScaler and
4) StoreFront for XenApp/XenDesktop apps.
Where remote users needed to access their SaaS and Enterprise apps along with XenApp/XenDesktop published apps via their web browser, they used to launch the NetScaler Gateway’s URL. Post authentication if the AppController was integrated with StoreFront, they get access to apps published by AppController and StoreFront.
With the release of XenMobile 10.x, AppController is now merged into XMS (XenMobile Server) and we are left with following components:
1) XMS server
2) NetScaler and
3) StoreFront
Access to the apps through a Web browser is no longer the same as it was in older versions of XenMobile. If you use the same NetScaler Gateway URL on a web browser to access any of the non mobile apps, you will get 404.
For the customer that continues to use the Web to access XenApp, XenDesktop and other Web and SaaS apps, they need a solution to make this possible.
Unified Access Gateway is the way to go.
Unified Gateway is integrated into NetScaler 11.0 release. When configured, Unified Gateway provides consolidation via one URL to access multiple secured services.

How to set up Unified Gateway
Assuming that you have NetScaler 11.0 already installed and initial configuration already done …
Log in to the NetScaler Admin portal under Integrate with Citrix Products. Launch the Unified Gateway Wizard and click on Getting Started. This screen also gives a small list of pre-reqs for Unified Gateway.
The next screen will provide an architectural overview of having a single URL secure remote access to the enterprise apps. Click Continue.
Start configuring Unified Gateway by providing the Name and IP address. Leave the port as 443 for secured connection.
Select a certificate to bind with the Unified Gateway public URL. The certificate used here is already imported and installed into the NetScaler. Follow the article below for the steps on how to create and install a certificate.

The next step is to bind Unified Gateway users to an authentication server. Select Existing if a server is already configured; if not, select Add New Server and go about configuring one.
Select a portal theme for the Unified Gateway site. X1 is the latest out-of-the-box theme. This option allows Unified Gateway to be highly customised for the customers.
At this point, Unified Gateway is configured. If you want you can continue to add Applications in the Wizard or you can come back later to configure them.
For now i am adding an application Outlook accessed over web.Click on the “+” symbol in the Application section
Application types are Web and XenApp/XenDesktop. For now, we will use Web Applications; later on we will come back to this screen to Add XenApp/XenDesktop.
Give a name to the application. Select application type, options available are Intranet Application/Clientless Access/SaaS/PreConfigured application on the NetScaler.
For OutlookWeb i am selecting the option as Clientless Access. For other options like Intranet Application you need VPN access.
In the relevant provided field enter Application URL and and icon URL. Click Continue once done.
Now under the Application section, you can see the Outlook application icon added as a Web Application. Click on done.
This completes the Unified Gateway wizard. You can relaunch it to add more applications.
The dashboard on the right panel will give you a report as to the progress of the configuration done to this point. STA is not yet added.
In order to add STA, go to NetScaler Gateway–>Virtual Server. Select the Virtual Server for Unified Gateway and click on Edit.
Where it shows No STA, click on it and on the next screen enter the STA servers’s URL. XenApp server is the STA in here.
Once you select Bind, STA is add. Status should show up; if not, wait for a few seconds and refresh.
Now, let’s add StoreFront apps to the Unified Gateway. Once again, click on the + sign in the Application section of the configured Unified Gateway and this time select XenApp&XenDesktop.
Enter the StoreFront Details. The site path should be the relative path of the StroreFront store.
Add XenApp Farm and click on Continue.
Once the required info is provided under Applications, you will find the StoreFront app icon.
Let’s relaunch the Unified Gateway URL in the browser.Post login select to Use Light Version from the screen.
Since we have added StoreFront the Unified Gateway, now you can see the 3rd option to select post login-Virtual App and Desktop Access.
Virtual Apps and Desktop Access is where you have your XenApps and XenDesktops apps. Users logging in for the first time will not have any favorites.
All the published apps will be displayed along with their respective categories.
In order to add an app to Favorites, click on Details next to the app and click on Add to Favorites.
Click on the Desktop on the top; it will display published XenDesktops.
Configuration on StoreFront Server:
Assuming that the StoreFront server is already installed and a Store already created, we will Manage NetScaler Gateway for the Unified Gateway.
The next three screen shots are of Configuring NetScaler Gateways for Unified Gateway where we add the NetScaler Gateway URL, STA server and Call back URL (optional).
