A few weeks ago my colleague, Mayunk Jain, wrote a blog post about the availability of the new Supportability Pack. These are still the early days of the Supportability Pack and we’re encouraged by the community interest. Since Mayunk’s post was published, the Supportability Pack has been downloaded several thousand times and many customers have shared valuable feedback.

In the first phase, our goal has been to raise awareness, improve accessibility, and promote use of internal troubleshooting tools.

Here are some of the things our Customers and Partners are saying:

Love the idea of a consolidated tool repository. Having it categorized by product makes it easier to locate tools.

Great concept! Like the idea of downloading tools in one package. Create a similar workflow for finding tools that we use for support.citrix.com site.

I use all these tools to support my Citrix deployments

Gives me some tools to analyze part of the environment for troubleshooting or reviewing how things are working. Keep adding to this collection!

The overall community feedback can be summarized as:

1. The catalog of tools has simplified the search process for relevant tools.

2. Request for continued investment in new tools. A recurring theme is request for an update manager or ways to sync to a Citrix tools repository.

3. Some suggested we turn the initiative into an open-community effort where customers and third parties can also provide content. This is an interesting idea.

So, what’s next?

The Supportability Pack was updated a few days ago with a few minor changes, such as eliminating embedded zip files. Another bigger update that will include several new tools, as well as an automated way to sync with a Citrix tools repository is coming soon.

Beyond this, we continue to look to improve the tools, the categorization,  and incorporate similar improvements into the Citrix Support website. Engineering, Technical Support and Education teams are also collaborating to expand relevant Synergy sessions and Education courseware which should all promote consumption and proficiency with tools.

Our sincerest thanks to everyone who supplied feedback on the Supportability Pack. If you haven’t had a chance yet then it’s still not too late to check it out and share your thoughts. 🙂 It’s very important to us that we align with our customers’ and partners’ needs.

This is just a sneak peek into what’s happening behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more details as we roll into phase 2!
