I was putting together this post with top session picks for Citrix Synergy 2016--coming to Las Vegas May 24–26–as I do each year, and it struck me: innovation at Citrix in the last year has been astonishing. The product groups are working at a rapid pace on new releases and feature enhancements that are driving our customers toward digital business transformation, and it’s been exciting to see.
Our channel partners had a sneak peek at Citrix Summit in January, but that was nothing compared to what’s in store at Synergy. There will be surprises in store as we bring together industry experts in application delivery, user experience, security, networking management, virtualization, file sync and cloud services to demonstrate how to make all business apps, from iOS and Android to web, SaaS and Windows, work better—and make them more secure, more manageable, and ready for change.
Ready for a preview? Let’s go.
Sessions built expressly for you
Synergy will feature more technical content than ever, with just over 100 breakouts at intro, intermediate and advanced levels. We’re also retooling the agenda with fewer, more substantive sessions of 45, 60 and 90 minutes to give you more time on the deep technical dives that are so critical.
Citrix Technology Professionals and the Citrix User Group Community are fully integrated into the conference, and more than a third of sessions will be led by outside experts. We’ll also have dozens of sessions created for customers, by customers and partners; through our annual Call for Topics program, you tell us about your most pressing technical challenges and your greatest successes, and the most compelling are selected to be presented each year at Synergy. It’s how we keep the content relevant, and the presentations fresh.
As we finalize our guest presenters and prepare to release the full catalog of breakout sessions later this month, I wanted to give you the highlights.
My top picks for sessions to watch in each track:
• Desktop & App Delivery: Deliver Skype for Business with XenApp and XenDesktop
• Mobility Management: Containerize and deliver mobile apps without writing a single line of code
• Cloud Services: Best practices for leveraging Microsoft Azure and Hyper-V as hybrid resource locations in Workspace Cloud
• Networking: Learn how SD-WAN delivers speed and reliability for 80% less
• Security: I bet on ShareFile and won: a customer’s ShareFile journey
Intensive, interactive training
We’ve heard your requests, and this year Synergy showcases even more hands-on learning opportunities, from the Certification Center to the self-guided, self-contained Solutions Demo Sandbox. Plus…the Instructor-led Learning Labs preconference workshop is back! This format worked so well and generated such positive feedback last year; attendees really enjoyed the time for learning without distraction before Synergy began. The workshop will again take place on Sunday and Monday, with a networking happy hour on Sunday night. As you know, these sessions fill up quickly, so register early to secure your favorites.
My top picks for Instructor-led Learning Labs:
• Using the Citrix Browser Apps Service for secure web application delivery
• Unified endpoint management for BYOD
• NetScaler Unified Gateway integration with XenApp and XenDesktop
• Monitoring and troubleshooting a XenApp and XenDesktop environment using the SCOM management packs and Director
Registration is now open for the labs workshop: I’ve mentioned a few excellent choices but be sure to browse the catalog for the complete selection. Also, watch for the full session catalog when it goes live on March 21 and make your plans today to attend Synergy in Las Vegas, May 22–24, 2016.
