Today, Cisco announced their entry into the Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) space with a new product called Cisco HyperFlex Systems.
As the HCI space continues to mature, we find more and more customers moving to the compelling “all-in-one” solution for their desktop and app delivery needs.
As the recognized leader in secure app and data delivery, Citrix sees tremendous value in partnering with Cisco in helping customers to realize their goals of enabling secure, high-performance access to their end user’s desktops, applications and data.
Solutions like these eliminate much of the guesswork involved with deploying infrastructure, virtual apps and desktops, making it easier and faster to configure and manage. Citrix distinguishes itself and stands at the forefront by providing customers and partners their choice of infrastructure for secure app delivery. This commitment to enabling enterprises to deploy XenApp and XenDesktop on top of ANY infrastructure is—and will always be—a core Citrix value, and allows us to offer Cisco HyperFlex as an option with a rapid time to market.
IT’s an SDx World…
Cisco has seized on the opportunity by introducing the next generation of HCI that includes their renown high-performance computing and networking capabilities along with sophisticated data management that are essential to a complete Hyperconverged solution. Built on Cisco UCS server technology, the system provides a single point of management for Software Defined computing.
Software defined storage is integrated via Cisco’s HyperFlex Data Platform, which brings sophisticated inline deduplication, compression and other data management techniques that our mutual customers rely on for desktop and app delivery.
World-class software-defined network capabilities are part of the solution through the use of an integrated Cisco UCS fabric that ensures fast network traffic for the most demanding workloads including those delivered via Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp. You could even say Cisco has introduced a new concept called “microscaling” that allows customers to more easily scale up and scale out their desktop and app deployments by reconfiguring the HyperFlex System or easily adding modules as the customer’s needs grow.
The majority of customers already working with Cisco HyperFlex systems are leveraging the HCI solution for VDI and app delivery deployments with Citrix XenApp and Citrix XenDesktop.
Meander Medisch Centrum, a healthcare provider located in the Netherlands, is a long time Cisco and Citrix XenDesktop customer looking to the HCI space in order to more efficiently deliver their applications to clinicians and other users who need access on the go. Citrix provides Meander with secure, ubiquitous access to user workspaces hosted on Cisco HyperFlex Systems, providing a superior experience that illustrates why #EveryoneUsesCitrix.
The HCI space just got a bit more interesting with the exciting, high-performance, enterprise-class HyperFlex solution brought to us by Cisco.
Citrix is proud to be included as a launch partner for this new HCI platform, and we are sure that our mutual customers will benefit from the combined industry leading compute, networking, storage and app and desktop delivery technologies being integrated as a result of our long-term partnership. We look forward to working with our customers to enable XenDesktop and XenApp powered desktops and apps running on top of Cisco HyperFlex Systems.
