There is a great deal of irony in the fact that I’m enamored with Citrix Solutions for Healthcare after only three months on the job. Why is that, you ask? Well, let’s just say that I come from a long line of folks who steer clear of medical practitioners, avoid healthcare institutions like the plague and shed prescriptions like copperheads molt their skins.

Not clear enough? Here’s a story that’ll break this down for you:

It wasn’t a surprise when my 89-year old grandmother complained of chest pains. She had, after all, spent her entire life subscribing to her variation of the old school North Carolina diet: homemade biscuits, blueberry pie, fried chicken and butterbeans cooked in fatback.

What was a surprise was that she allowed herself to be removed from her chartreuse-and-beige houndstooth swivel chair and driven to the hospital. More amazing still was that she even tolerated being treated by a young resident to whom she referred as “that boy over there — the one in the white coat that’s too big for him.”

After she had waited longer than anyone building up to a heart attack should have, he approached her, daring to ask if she had a family doctor. Her fast-as-a-lightning-bolt-response was “I ain’t lived here long enough to worry about that, Son.” By then, she had lived in the Coastal Plain of the Tar Heel State for more than 89 years.

My grandmother’s main beef with healthcare institutions and caregivers was inefficiency, delays, and the hassle of repeating the same information over and over again. She preferred not to be bothered. Typically, I’m of the same mind.

Fast-forward to today and, in spite of my misgivings, Citrix technology, nevertheless, has me hooked. It’s transforming healthcare delivery. Here are eight awesome things that sold me:

Awesome Thing 1: Citrix Solutions for Healthcare are used by 3 million clinicians every day. If I’m doing the math correctly, that equals 34 per second. That’s enough physicians-per-second to set my heart a-flutter!

Your takeaway: Citrix technology is revolutionizing healthcare delivery by empowering clinicians to work flexibly from anywhere. That means better patient value.

Awesome Thing 2: The analysts love Citrix. Gartner places Citrix technology in a leadership position in a number of its 2015 Magic Quadrants, among them Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Mobility Management Suites and Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise File Sync and Sharing. Forrester ranks Citrix as a “significant software vendor.” What’s not to love about technology that analysts applaud?

Your takeaway: Citrix technology has a well-deserved reputation as best-of-breed.

Awesome Thing 3: Clinicians can access electronic medical records (EMRs) on any device, from any network, anywhere when Citrix is the mobility platform. What that means is that your images (or mine) are securely and seamlessly accessible from any part of the healthcare environment as your physician roams! These relationships bring value to your environment. The Citrix Ready Marketplace also hosts an extensive list of verified products, trusted solutions, and enterprise-enabled apps.

Your takeaway: Citrix is constantly innovating as a company and as an industry leader in conjunction with other partners to deepen and broaden its solutions offerings.

Awesome Thing 8: Citrix technology actually works. (Yes, I’ve been employed by companies that manufactured products that didn’t really work. It’s hard to love that.)

Your takeaway: Please refer back to Awesome Things 1, 2 and 5. It’s important to buy proven technology. Your Citrix sales rep or partner can provide you with a wide variety of customer contacts, assets and proof points to help you in your selection process.
