Twitter Pic of the Day (check out the header photo up there!!)
Guess what? Turns out you can build a Citrix partner conference out of 24,000 Lego bricks! (Well, the event’s sign, at least.)
If you’re reading this blog from Las Vegas, that means you were able to join your colleagues for Citrix Summit 2016. If not, remember that you can stream tomorrow’s Tech Talks keynote live from Citrix Partner Central, and after January 18 you can view recorded keynotes, presentations and other great resources on Citrix SalesIQ. I’ll be blogging the highlights–live from Summit–right here, and you can also stay in touch on Twitter by following #CitrixSummit. There are so many exciting things happening—let’s dive right in!
Citrix welcomed our global partners to Citrix Summit 2016 yesterday, and as partners arrived in throughout the day from the Americas, APJ and EMEA, Citrix teams got ready to show some #CitrixPartnerLove. Also last night, attendees who have met online got to meet in person at the #CitrixSummit Meetup, and everyone enjoyed the open bar and apps (Did you get a Kobe beef slider? Yum.) at Losers Most Wanted Bar (a.k.a. Rouge).
What do SUM608: Build and deliver Workspace Cloud Applications and Desktops service and SUM607: Implementing and troubleshooting NetScaler Insight Center have in common? They were two of the most popular Instructor-led Learning Labs, part of the preconference workshop that began on Sunday morning and concluded today. Don’t miss out next year—be sure to register early for your favorite sessions. Three labs are included with your conference registration!
There were an even number of yellow and burgundy lanyards at the Base Camp Reception—which means Citrix sales staff were offering a 1:1 welcome to partners who are new to Summit. As newcomers mingled over cocktails, veterans introduced them around to other new attendees and shared tips for getting the most out of the conference. Finally, a lively group closed out Sunday with a happy hour at Pub 1842—the MGM Grand has some incredible bars and restaurants. Hope you get a chance to check them all out.
The Keynote story in tweets
The MGM Grand’s own Jabbawockeez hip-hop dance crew brought some great energy to the arena this morning as Summit “officially” kicked off with the General Session. The Citrix blogs give a more complete story about the day’s big announcements—I recommend you check them out. Through the hashtags #CitrixSummit and #CitrixPartnerLove, our partners gave the best feedback on this morning’s keynote. I’ll let them tell the story in their own words:

Partners and sales teams unable to make the trip to Summit watched the live stream on Citrix Partner Central from all over the world—including one partner who saw the power of Citrix at work in his own personal viewing party of one. Now that is dedication.

There is some incredible hands-on training going on at Summit. These were the most popular technical breakouts today, by the numbers. I note which ones are repeated—and remember, these will be available on demand at Citrix SalesIQ after February 8.
• SUM217: Deployment best practices for all the newest XenApp and XenDesktop HDX technology (repeats Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.)
• SUM225: Best practices for NetScaler design decisions (repeats Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.)
• SUM201: XenApp and XenDesktop tech update (repeats Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.)
• SUM212: Workspace Cloud and how it works: a technical deep dive (repeats Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.)
If you’re on-site, be sure to add tomorrow’s most in-demand sessions to your agenda. They include SUM214: How to accelerate deployments and simplify management of XenApp & XenDesktop using Citrix validated blueprints, and SUM102: Winning against VMware.
Lunching and learning and networking
The Solutions Expo opened at noon today for lunch and networking. The new Territory Time program brought together partners and sales teams from the same region for some geo-specific discussions, while everyone else enjoyed the buffet (multiple lines! hardly any waiting!) and meeting new people before exploring the booths.
Some partners never even left the conference center, preferring instead to grab a boxed lunch and continue learning at the Solutions Demo Sandbox, which offers targeted sessions and the chance to get hands-on time with Citrix products. The big draw today was SUM752: Develop insightful customer engagements using CIS (XenApp/XenDesktop); this Lunch & Learn session is repeated tomorrow at noon, or you can learn more about this valuable tool that our own experts use right here.
Looking ahead: Welcome Reception and Tuesday highlights
I am off to the Welcome Reception right now—it’s happening at the Solutions Expo in the Marquee Ballroom from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., so there’s still plenty of time to join us!
Then tomorrow, you won’t want to miss the Tech Talks keynote, where Citrix leaders will dive even deeper into the renewed focus on core products and partner success in 2016. I’ll stop by The Citrix Booth Experience to visit the new demo stations (which are organized by both product and use case) and to see how everyone is enjoying building their custom Citrix minifigures. Also tomorrow, the Diversity in Technology session and reception features opening remarks from our rockstar new vice president of partner strategy and sales, Kimberly Martin. Add SUM194: Diversity in Technology to your agenda to join the session.
We’ll close out tomorrow night at the Partner Appreciation Party—I promise it’ll be a night to remember, celebrating some #CitrixPartnerLove. Enjoy Summit, and don’t forget to follow and post at #CitrixSummit!
