Access Word, Excel and PowerPoint Online files stored in your ShareFile account using the Microsoft Office Online Editing feature to avoid the hassle of downloading, editing and re-uploading files every time. It takes just four easy steps to open files in edit mode and automatically save changes to ShareFile.
While viewing Microsoft Office files (documents, workbooks, or presentations) within the ShareFile web browser, you’ll see a new “Edit Document” option in the dropdown menu when you right-click any Microsoft Office files that allows you to open a file directly in the appropriate Microsoft Office app for editing. Once you’ve finished your edits, you’ll be able to save the file back to your ShareFile account.
ShareFile Admin users can enable this feature in the Advanced Preferences menu under the File Management section. Enable online editing for Office 365 files directly from within ShareFile so your team will never need to download, edit and re-upload files again.
To enable this feature, follow these four simple steps:
1) Click the Admin link in the navigation bar.
2) Click on Advanced Preferences on the left hand side.
3) Expand the File Management section.
4) Check ‘Yes’ next to Enable Previewing and Enable Editing.
That’s it! Now you and your team can edit files online without ever leaving ShareFile. Your team will see Edit Document when they right-click any Microsoft Office files, which will open the file in edit mode and automatically save changes to ShareFile.
