With Android for Work, you can use the same Android device to run personal and work apps.
Android for work includes Google Play for Work, which you use to install the work apps on your device (your company must be enrolled in the Android for Work program and you must have a work profile on your device). That profile can be used to access apps that have been pre-approved by the IT administrator.
Contact your administrator to set up your personal device with Google Play for Work. They can help to install the correct work policy controller application, and register your device with the Android for Work domain.
Note: There can only be one Work profile on a device at a time. In that profile, you can have only one account, which must be your work account.
The steps below provide a guide to activate business apps and install them using Android for Work with Citrix XenMobile.
As a requirement, you have to follow the configuration guide:
- Completed Afw and Xenmobile configuration
- UPN = Emailaddress for Android for Work domain
- Play Store work enabled and approved Application
- A device recommended by Google
We can broadly categorize the flow into 4 stages:
- Google Play for Work enabled and approved Application
- Providing the app in XenMobile Enterprise Store
- At least than one policy for Android for Work have to be configured (Passcode)
Google Play for Work enabled and approved Application Overview:
Google Play for Work is the new content marketplace for Android for Work. It allows you to select, purchase, and manage apps for your organization. You can create lists of approved apps and manage updates.
You can install any free or paid Google Play for Work apps from the approved list that is managed by your IT administrator. If needed, your IT administrator can install and uninstall apps for your device remotely. If your IT administrator installed an app, you may see a message that you can’t uninstall it because it was installed using an administration policy.
- Login in with you administrator account
- Search and approve for you Business App
Providing the app in XenMobile enterprise Store for as a Android for Work App
add the app in XenMobile
Important: you have to enter the app idd (com.xxx.xx)
click “search” for finding the app
The app icon should be appear after a few seconds. By selecting/clicking the app detail information will be shown
Press next until you reached the delivery group assignments.
Choose your delivery group assignments and save.
Attention: The app has to be a defined as a required app, so please go the delivery group and change the configuration of the app.
Now you can enroll you device. The enrollment process is very easy so here are the complete steps
Download and install Citrix WorxHome from the Google Play Store on your device:
Open the WorxHome App to start the enrollment and follow the steps on the display
Enter your server url and follow the instructions
Enter your credentials (UPN must be same as your email address)
After entering your credentials you will see that your work profile will be setup.
If you will see an error message “The device or your server is not android for work enalbed”, please check your credentials and the server settings
Go ahead and Follow the instructions for creating your work profile on the device
Google android for work will redirect you to your xenmobile server for the mobile application management (MAM) part.
Your device is now sucessfully enrolled and all your configured mdm policies will be pushed to your device:

Now you have access to your XenMobile Enterprise Store as well. Depends on your configuration you have to create your worx PIN first.
On your device you will see your installed enterprise apps marked with a badge.
In your Play Store for Work (badged) you will find all by your company approved and installed application.
