The Internet of Things and the Integration of Everything
Is the Internet of Things (IoT) overhyped or underestimated? That is a question we asked in a recent article from Citrix Trends and Innovation. In that article we elaborated on points we have made previously that within the Enterprise, the IoT opportunity expands from talking about things to integrating everything together. In our opinion, the opportunity presented by the Integration of Everything is massive, and we are just now starting to scratch the surface of what this opportunity means. Already industry-specific examples of the Integration of Everything exist, just look at industrial IoT, smarter cities and health care as a few illustrations.
The Integration of Everything and Higher Education
Recently, the Citrix Labs team decided to take a closer look at how the Integration of Everything could impact Higher Education. Why this market? As part of our research into Higher Ed, we talked to a large number of colleges and universities and they all indicated to us that they are all facing pressures on how they can serve more students successfully. And they are interested in how technology can help them serve and reach more students while ensuring successful student outcomes. This sounded like the perfect opportunity for Octoblu and the Integration of Everything.
One of the conversations we had was with Duane Schau, Director of Client Services from Indiana University. Duane and I had a chance to talk in a webinar about some of the challenges facing education today, and what type of innovations we could see from IoT that may change the face of modern education. We also launched Project Minerva, an effort from Citrix Labs to investigate how we can use the Integration of Everything to help automate the classroom. The idea is to make it easy and simple to provide classroom content to a larger audience, ensuring students can get access to classroom content when and where they need to. If you are interested in learning more about Project Minerva and perhaps engaging with the Citrix Labs team to share your opinions, please go to the Project Minerva page and register for the beta.We would be happy to talk to you and learn more about how the Internet of Things and the Integration of Everything could help you serve your students more successfully.
