It’s true, we are standing at the precipice of an unprecedented moment in IT history. For the first time, an Operating System upgrade is not in the hands of Corporate IT. It’s in the hands of the employees.

Are you ready?

On July 29th, Microsoft is releasing the FREE download for Windows 10 upgrades, and it’s targeted towards consumer devices. More incredibly, these are licensed and unlicensed version of Windows 7 or 8.1. So, it is not unreasonable that a large number of our employees who have their BYO devices will jump on this free upgrade right from the get-go.

It’s no coincidence that we will have our own “Early Release” of the Citrix Receiver for Windows 10 available ahead of time. You’ll be able to download it and evaluate your support and migration strategy to be ready for any employee driven upgrades to Windows 10.

There are over 1 million Windows applications being delivered via XenApp and XenDesktop. With Citrix Receiver, they are all available from a Windows 10 device. To read the “Windows 10 Support and Migrations Strategy” blog, click here /blogs/?p=174212903

I find this incredibly exciting especially since I recently took on a new HQ role as VP Prod Mgt and Strategic Partners. This includes managing partnerships including our most strategic partner; Microsoft for the XenApp team. I am returning to this expanded role after 6 years in the APAC region; in total I have been with Citrix for over 17 years and spent most of this time focused on XenApp/XenDesktop and Microsoft :).

At Microsoft’s annual World Partner Conference–July 12 – 16 in Orlando FL–you will see a very strong and very active Citrix presence. Not only are we a sponsor, but we will be making some amazing announcements leading up to WPC. Announcements that are sure to thrill our partners and customers. I will be there for the whole event, so please connect with me.

And this isn’t even scratching the surface of what’s in store for July. Stay tuned to not only this blog but to all of the announcements we will be making around Windows 10.

The Citrix and Microsoft relationship has been one of the strongest and most successful in the industry for over 25 years. Yet I feel like we are just beginning. And July is going to be one of the most electrifying months for Citrix and Microsoft that I have been a part of in a long time.

I welcome your input on this unprecedented moment in IT history.
