Since we first announced the ability for Citrix customers to hybrid provision their XenDesktop and XenApp farms starting with version 7.5 in March 2014, we’ve seen many examples of customers deploying their applications and desktops in the cloud and realizing immediate benefits.

The list was lengthy and varied and included fast deployment time, flexible scalability, reduced risks to projects and, of course, lower cost typically experienced when using infrastructure as a service (IaaS) vs. making incremental infrastructure purchase and management investments. Customers who wish to leverage the hybrid provisioning features in XenDesktop and XenApp can provision on premises to a Citrix CloudPlatform-enabled private cloud or to a public cloud including AWS or one that is also Citrix CloudPlatform-enabled.

Citrix Hybrid Provisioning Model

During the past year, we have begun building an ecosystem of Citrix Ready verified cloud providers that customers can turn to as trusted, reliable cloud IaaS resource zones. The Citrix Ready designation is awarded to third-party partners that have successfully met our test criteria. This certification gives our customers added confidence in the compatibility of the joint solution. Choose a provider from your region or industry, or find one with the features that match your business requirements infrastructure. The choice is yours. As your needs change, the service adapts to meet your requirements.

In Q3 2015, the hybrid provisioning feature in XenApp and XenDesktop will become an embedded feature of Citrix Workspace Cloud, a cloud-based, multi-service management platform that provides a portfolio of workspace and infrastructure management services. Customers and partners choose whether to consume those workspace resources as-a-Service, or to build their own workspace infrastructure using its assistance. Citrix Workspace Cloud unifies the management of all Citrix products, and moves that management logic into the cloud. Deployment of products themselves can either be in the cloud, or on-premises, or both.

Broad Range of Hybrid Deployment Options
