In App EditingEarlier this year we wrote about our current integrations with Microsoft and announced that Citrix has joined the Microsoft Cloud Storage Partner Program.

Since our announcement, we have updated the ShareFile iOS apps, which allow you to open and edit files stored in ShareFile, directly from within the Microsoft Office iOS mobile app suite.

Today we are pleased to announce that later this quarter, through our integration with Microsoft Office Online, you will be able to edit Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint files directly from within the ShareFile web application.

ShareFile’s integration with Office Online makes collaboration quick and easy from any browser or computer, saving time and increasing productivity. Users are able to edit any Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint files without leaving ShareFile and without desktop versions of Microsoft Office — or even their own computer — to update Office files stored in ShareFile.

This new integration means you no longer need to rely on your local Microsoft Office applications to edit a file, instead you can edit the files directly from within your web browser and changes are automatically saved back to ShareFile for you.  The integration also allows you to work on Microsoft Office files from any device that has a modern web browser.  Editing will require an Office 365 account.  You can watch a short video of how this feature will work on the Citrix YouTube channel.

Our integrations with the Microsoft Office iOS applications and Microsoft Office Online continue to demonstrate our push towards increasing productivity by integrating with existing workflows.  We are excited to share this news with you and encourage everyone to stay tuned to our release notes over the coming months for details on when this feature becomes available.
