Last Christmas, we released Citrix Receiver for HTML5 1.5, focusing on interoperability, with capabilities like HDX insight and CloudBridge support. This release helped our customers increase the adoption of clientless access mode for Citrix Workspace Suite.
Receiver for HTML5 1.6 is built with additional performance and usability enhancements. Here are some of the key improvements in this release:
Bandwidth efficiency – Significant improvement for bandwidth efficiency when connected to XenApp 6.5 or using the legacy mode of graphics in XenApp, XenDesktop 7.6.
The improvements done in audio processing further enhance audio-video experience from HTML5 Receiver. Also, the overall memory requirement for Receiver for HTML5 is lower with this release.
Receiver for HTML5 allows users to access 2D and 3D graphics workload through a browser from a workstation class endpoint. Now you can also access it for the visually lossless mode in HDX 3D Pro.
Citrix’s recommended mode of access using Receiver for HTML5 is through NetScaler over SSL for all supported versions of XenApp and XenDesktop or direct SSL connection to XenApp and XenDesktop 7.6. If you are not using this mode, please make sure that you enable the policy for WebSocket connection and open the required port mentioned in the documentation. Also, it is important to deploy the Receiver for web option correctly on StoreFront for successful connection.
Receiver for HTML5 is hosted on StoreFront server. When you install StoreFront 2.6, Receiver for HTML5 1.4 is automatically installed. In order to upgrade, you can install Receiver for HTML5 1.6 on StoreFront 2.5 or 2.6 servers. Do not install Receiver for HTML5 1.6 with StoreFront versions prior to 2.5
