Turn-Key Demo Tools to Help Drive your Hosting Business

One of the top sales tools used by Citrix partners are well-executed solution oriented demos that captivate the audience and generate an “I want that” from customers. Done right, a great hosted workspace demo allows a customer to really experience how the solutions can solve their specific challenges, fit into their daily life and even open new business opportunities. We’ve asked Citrix Service Provider partners about the value of having a great hosted workspace and Desktops-as-a-Service demo and they could not agree more. In fact, demos rank as one of the most valuable sales tools in the Citrix Service Provider Center of Excellence surveys. Further to the point, many Citrix Service Provider partners I’ve worked with this year are taking demos to a whole other level by building their own Executive Briefing Centers (EBC) modeled after the approach we use at the Citrix EBCs.

This begs the question of what is the best way to give a great Citrix-based hosted workspace or DaaS demo. What devices should I be using? What’s the right sequence for moving through the solutions? What are the key talking points? These are some of the top of mind questions we’ve heard from Citrix Service Provider partners.

Today I’m Excited To Share Two Great New Resources For Helping Your Teams Give A Powerful Demo.

Desktops-as-a-Service and Hosted Workspace Demo Guide

This guide teaches Citrix Service Providers how to develop and deliver a great hosted workspace demo that includes Desktops-as-a-Service (DaaS), virtual applications, file sharing and sync and Mobile Device Management. The guide is based on Citrix best practices that are used in the Citrix Executive Briefing Centers and by the Citrix Service Provider Sales teams and is designed to showcase an end-to-end hosted workspace solution that includes Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix XenApp, Citrix ShareFile and Citrix XenMobile. It is generically written so that it can be applied and modified to fit any typical demo environment and doesn’t require any specific environment variables such as user names, passwords, URLs or configurations. Naturally, service providers will be expected to have a functioning demo environment and adapt this guide to their own specific setup and service offerings that they provide.

Desktops-as-a-Service and Hosted Workspace Demo Video

The new video Citrix Desktops-as-a-Service and Hosted Workspaces EBC Demo, complements the demo guide and shows you what the demo looks in real life at one of our own EBCs. It too covers an end-to-end hosted workspace solution that includes Desktops-as-a-Service, virtual applications, file sharing and sync and Mobile Device Management. Not only can this be used as a training aid, but it will make a great supplement for anyone that wasn’t able to attend one of your live demos.

Before You Get Started With A Hosted Workspace Demo

While these two tools will provide you with a great starting point, as with any customer facing sales tool, you’ll want to make it your own. Before you get started, take a step back and consider….

  • How can you adopt these to compliment and highlight the strengths of your own hosted services?
  • How can you “verticalize” or differentiate your demo to speak to specific customer or industry segment challenges and use cases?
  • And most importantly, how will you develop your own demo story that is captivating and relatable to your audience?

As you think this through, here is some additional food for thought reading on demo best practices.
