Last May at our Synergy 2014 event, we unveiled our Receiver X1 strategy. X1 is a core element of our ongoing effort to create delightful end user experiences (X1 stands for eXperience 1st). Today, we are excited to announce the first step in the fulfillment of the X1 strategy – the availability of the Tech Preview for the Receiver X1 for Web and StoreFront.
This Tech Preview of StoreFront hosts the X1 user experience for Receiver for Web users. This is the same X1 user experience that will ultimately be delivered to our X1-enabled native Receivers – Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Chrome OS – whether using XenApp, XenDesktop, or XenMobile.
You can use the Tech Preview build to familiarize yourself with the flexibility StoreFront provides to enable the X1 user experience and more specifically, to experiment with centralized customization and branding of your end users’ app and desktop selection experience through StoreFront. It can be used to aggregate resources from XenDesktop and XenApp.
I also encourage you to check out the first in Richard Hayton’s X1 technical blog series where he will provide prescriptive guidance on how to take advantage of X1 customizations for end users both in the StoreFront console and via API’s. I’ll be posting additional blogs in the coming days regarding the business value of X1 as well.
The Tech Preview download page can be found here. Please note that the software is available to Citrix customers that are current on Subscription Advantage for XenApp or XenDesktop. The Tech Preview is not intended for production use.
