Another successful event by Cisco, Cisco Live Milan 2015 was a large gathering of partners and customers and technologists. Opening keynote, technology keynotes, breakout sessions and case studies – the conference was full of activity and learning opportunity. The world of solutions expo had tons of demos and exhibits that showcased the latest technology of Cloud, Data centre and Enterprise networks.
There Were Three Important Topics Discussed During the Conference
a) Cisco ONE suite: A Cisco market place that offers all services and resources required to build a successful cloud/data-centre.
b) Cisco InterCloud: The fabric that connects public, private, on-prem cloud deployments into one single seamless flat network.
c) Cisco ACI: The policy-driven infrastructure and management of the complete cloud/data-centre.
Citrix NetScaler is the only ADC product that had the full working demo of ACI interop with all the features required for supporting an Enterprise-grade application. There were other vendor demos that showcased only load-balancers being managed by ACI. A simple load-balancer feature can’t qualify to support all requirements of an Enterprise-grade application. Citrix NetScaler has the complete suite of features required for any type of application that are managed completely by ACI.
Cisco APIC-EM (Enterprise Module) takes input from the network services about the traffic and dynamically configures/provisions the network to provide the best user experience. Citrix NetScaler is completely integrated with APIC-EM module. NetScaler can update the APIC-EM module regarding the traffic using HTTP callouts that trigger the APIC-EM module to program appropriate QOS settings on the Catalyst switches. The correct QOS settings on the Catalyst switches that are part of the data path ensure best user experience. This was also demoed at the Cisco Live event.
Citrix NetScaler integration with Nexus series switches has also been refreshed by extending the support to Nexus 5000 and 6000 series switches (link). Citrix NetScaler is also a native host on the Cisco Nexus 1000V solution for virtualized data centres by supporting Cisco vPath technology. As a key strategic partner, Citrix has been ahead of the competition in delivering multiple, real, enterprise and data-centre grade solutions.
