How dependent are you on your mobile device?

When was the last time you responded to an email, reviewed a document, or attended a conference call away from your office desk? If you are like me, your answer is probably, “um, 5 minutes ago?” To call mobile working a new phenomenon would be a stretch, as the reality is, people have come to depend on their mobile devices for all aspects of work.

But unfortunately, mobility strategies within organizations have not caught up to this requirement from employees. Why? Because mobility is complicated. There are security concerns, management concerns, staffing concerns, accessibility concerns…the list goes on. There has to be an easier way to take advantage of the rise in mobility while not opening up IT to millions of risks.

This is why Citrix recently reached out to industry analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group to understand how they viewed mobile computing. In their conversations with thousands of customers, they surmised that mobility is here to stay. So much so, that 55% of their survey respondents told them that mobile computing is very important to supporting employee productivity and 38% reported that they wouldn’t be able to do their jobs without a mobile device (see the infographic below).

So, how do they recommend organizations embrace mobility while addressing IT concerns?

Mobile Workspaces. Mobile workspace technology brings together:

  1. App delivery for all types of apps (Windows, web, SaaS, and mobile)
  2. Data sync and share
  3. Collaboration
  4. Secure mobile access
  5. Any device access
  6. Any network and any cloud support

Together, the combination of these technologies will deliver full business mobility while supporting IT’s requirement around security, management and so much more.
