I thought I knew a lot before I joined Citrix, but when I began working as frontline technical support engineer for software support, I quickly realized there was so much more learn than what I had previously known. I was surrounded by a team of bright and knowledgeable people who helped me develop quickly as engineer.
I became an expert in XenApp and XenDesktop and I progressed to a Senior Tech Engineer role. In this role, I was mentoring junior colleagues, working hot cases, and contributing knowledge base articles and forum posts.
As our team rapidly expanded and grew, I was fortunate to take up a position as a Technical Lead engineer. This was a fascinating role. I actively participated in all the engineer cases – – coaching and mentoring engineers how to proceed with moving cases forward to resolution.
It’s hard to pin point the highlight of being a technical lead, yet one memory stands out. I was selected to present at Citrix Synergy in Barcelona. Citrix Synergy is the premiere industry conference on enterprise mobility, virtualization, networking and cloud services. I presented to thousands of people.
I aspired to a people management role. With Citrix, I was given that chance. I firmly believe working as a Technical Lead engineer, not only helped develop my technical skills, but also helped advance my people skills because I work with engineers and customers every day. Citrix is the career of a lifetime for me.
