Hello, I am Rafael Garzon and this is my inaugural blog as the new Americas Channel Chief.
As Managing Director, Americas Channel, I will be responsible for driving the successful Partner go-to-market strategy and execution for the Americas Geo. It’s my job to work closely with the Citrix channel to enable our partners to provide end-to-end solutions for your customers and prospects.
My vision for the channel
- The primary objective of the Americas Citrix channel team in the short term will be to organize our various enablement initiatives into a powerful channel enablement capability that our partners can benefit from to grow their Citrix Product, as well as Services businesses. We also plan to continue the great momentum that we have established to offer innovative programs, solutions and resources to continue to keep Citrix the most profitable business for our partners to be in. All previous Citrix Americas Channel Chiefs operated under this guiding principle, including my immediate predecessor, Mike Fouts, and I intend to uphold this tradition.
- We will continue to equip partners with the innovative resources they need to sell more products and be more profitable. In addition, we will continue to develop and refine our programs and promotions to enable our channel partners to take full advantage of the growing interest in and demand for our virtualization, mobility and networking solutions.
- We will continue to find ways to facilitate collaboration between partners and the Citrix sales organization. Coming from both a Sales and Channel background, I fully appreciate the importance of alignment between our field and channel. In 2014, our joint partner and Citrix Sales territory and business planning initiative has been a successful step in this direction. Going forward, we will continue to identify and implement strategies to further improve our alignment.
A quick snapshot of my background… at and before Citrix
The last 17 years have been spent in the technology industry where I have had experience leading multifunctional and multicultural organizations in Sales, Channel Development and Management, Marketing, Software Development, Readiness and Operations. I started in the Telecommunications Industry, working at Nortel Networks where I helped develop their Professional Services organization leveraging our channel partners there as well as in Channel Development.
In 2006, I joined Citrix in its Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) team, where again I held a variety of leadership roles – including Channel Development, Education and Readiness, and as Director of Sales for Northern Latin America (NOLA).
Most recently, I took over the responsibility of our Americas Readiness organization, leading our efforts in Sales Strategy, Product introduction, Communications and overall Field Support and Enablement for the Geo.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), a Master in Business Administration from the University of Miami, and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Florida International University.
My home is in Weston, Florida, with my wife and two daughters. In addition, to spending time with my family, I enjoy biking, running, doing Yoga… and being a Selección Colombia soccer fan.
Besides looking forward to embracing this new position, I am also looking forward to working with and enabling our partners to become even more successful in their respective Citrix businesses.
