IDC’s recent ranking of Cisco UCS as #1 in the x86 server market in the Americas – and #2 globally -comes as no surprise to those of us here at Citrix who have been connected with Cisco through our strategic alliance.  Our close collaboration with Cisco to provide validated, integrated technology solutions across four pillars began with Cisco Desktop Virtualization Solution with Citrix XenDesktop, based on Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS). Close on the heels of Cisco’s 5th anniversary of Unified Computing System (UCS), we send our congratulations for this latest achievement.

The IDC report continues to credit Cisco with demonstrating the highest industry growth in the total worldwide server market, with an impressive 39 percent revenue growth year-over-year in a period where nearly all incumbents are posting flat or declining results. And, Cisco maintained its #2 position worldwide in x86 blade server revenue market share, including a top-five ranking among all server vendors.  We are excited to continue to work with Cisco driving this growth with one of the bigger growth engines for UCS – desktop and application virtualization with Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp.

When I first commented on our partnership with Cisco, I was just beginning to get my bearings here at Citrix. In that relatively short timeframe, it’s been amazing to see the continued innovation and progress between our two companies, including the joint announcement at our Synergy event last month of the Cisco Mobile Workspace Solution with Citrix and, we announced another chapter in our strategic relationship at Cisco Live! in San Francisco on May 19th, our  integration with Cisco’s ACI technology –  Citrix NetScaler will soon work in sync with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), a holistic architecture that will work together providing centralized automation and policy-driven application profiles, giving customers business agility through unprecedented control of their networks in a unique application-centric perspective.

We look forward to continued innovation together reinforcing the breadth and depth of our relationship with joint solutions including our flagship desktop virtualization solution, mobile workspace solution,  integration with Cisco’s ACI technology, and the continued evolution of our desktop-as-a-service offering. Kudos once again, Cisco, for IDC’s x86 server ranking – and can’t wait to see you achieve that next big milestone!
