The Cisco LIVE conference in San Francisco started today and the place is packed! In addition to all of the great activity that one usually encounters at these Cisco events, Cisco is adding a big addition this year and are pulling out all the stops to cater to their Developer Community with their new DevNet Zone.  Occupying nearly all of the Moscone Center west wing alongside the main Cisco Live! event, DevNet offers a highly technical development area, encouraging creativity and experimentation, with plenty of hands-on interaction.  Only six Partners were invited to participate in DevNet this year, and once again, Citrix is front and center.  Cisco has declared Citrix NetScaler as their ADC solution of choice, and we are happy to be a key partner in this DevNet Zone.

As any networking professional can agree, today’s networking model is complex and can be difficult to provision and troubleshoot for security, path optimization, QoS, and policy compliance.  A distinct problem is implementing and maintaining network settings across multiple devices in a campus or WAN network.  At best, the settings are static and time consuming to implement; at worst, manually implemented, error-prone and poorly managed, or just not feasible.

With Cisco’s new ACI Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC) and the Cisco NetScaler ADC, a solution is close at hand.  In addition to QoS settings, the Cisco APIC controller can dynamically maintain ACL and Multi-path route settings across a very large data center or an entire WAN and campus network.  Citrix NetScaler leverages the APIC APIs to deliver the best application experience possible, automatically.  The NetScaler history of delivering applications and services in an intelligent manner, across all types of networks and clouds, is now expanded to bring the NetScaler L4-L7 capabilities with the Cisco L2-L3 networking fabric.

In the DevNet Zone at Cisco Live San Francisco (May 19-22), Citrix and Cisco will demonstrate additional API-based integration between Citrix solutions and the Cisco APIC.  Citrix engineers are present daily to show you how to simplify and automate the WAN and Access portions of your network, especially around user identity, policy compliance, QoS, and other network gateway issues.  In addition, we will explore how you can take advantage of the latest from Citrix and Cisco to drive automation for provisioning and maintaining your network in a faster, simpler way.

If you are at Cisco LIVE this week, come by the Citrix developers pod at the DevNet Zone and we will take you through the Citrix vision for integration between Citrix solutions and Cisco’s APIC to deliver apps and data with the best performance and reliability possible.  In addition, Citrix will be delivering another theater presentations at DevNet on Thursday, May 22, at 9:00 am entitled:  Citrix in the Automated Data Center: Integrate all the APIs!

We look forward to seeing you at the Citrix booth #1321 at Cisco Live as well as the Citrix pod in the DevNet Zone to explore making your network automation ideas come alive!
