Moments ago and highlighting the Day 2 keynote here at Citrix Synergy, Intel disclosed its new “Crystal Well” Xeon E3 processor with Intel Iris Pro Graphics. Frank Soqui, GM of Technical Cloud and Compute Client at Intel joined Citrix on stage to announce this exciting industry news. Iris Pro Graphics is Intel’s most powerful graphics technology and this marks the first time Intel is integrating the Intel Xeon Processor family with Iris Pro Graphics technology.

In a discussion with Sudhakar Ramakrishna, Citrix SVP/GM Enterprise and Services Division, Frank highlighted the game changing density, efficiency and performance benefits that Xeon E3 Crystal Well will offer to enterprise customers. Enabling the delivery of rich apps and data to a wide range of users starting later this year. Frank noted that Xeon E3 Crystal Well will support rich remote workloads like CAD, 3D rendering, video editing and other complex workflow, allowing OEMs to design and distribute extremely dense and energy efficient solutions for the data center.

Frank and Sudhakar were then joined on stage by Hewlett Packard VP Dr. Tom Bradicich, who announced HP’s support for Intel Crystal Well with the HP Moonshot family of products. HP and Intel then unveiled the Moonshot with Xeon E3 platform and then showed a powerful demo featuring four intensive graphics apps running on HP Moonshot cartridges integrated with Xeon E3.

With Intel participating on the Synergy stage, this continues a series of recent partner announcements between Intel and Citrix across mobile, data center and clients. Including Citrix announcing XenMobile support for new Intel Device Protection Technology earlier this year at Mobile World Congress.  In addition to the continuing multiyear collaboration of Intel and Citrix on Xen with the newly announced Intel Graphics Virtualization Technology.

Truly a memorable day here at Citrix Synergy highlighting the outstanding partnership between Citrix, HP and Intel and the game changing potential for enterprise customers to deliver rich apps and desktops as a service with unprecedented efficiency, density and cost performance.
