The recent VMware announcements, which included some overt mentions of partners, got me thinking: What is the nature of TRUE partnership? True partners are built over time, with trust, engagement, dialog, collaboration and exchange and deliver VALUE to customers. True partners are also willing to stand up and be counted amongst your allies.

For Citrix, our long-standing partnership with Microsoft stands out to us, and is admired by many. It’s with great pride and respect that I saw this blog from Brad Anderson go live this morning. Nothing could say it better.

In competitive markets, it’s important to know who your competitors are, and equally important to know who your friends are. We also have to realize that competitors will try to drive wedges between friends – and to guard against that to defend true partnerships.
