Citrix and NVIDIA have just announced full support for vGPU on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, see here for details. Along with that announcement came some additional new features around WMI monitoring and support for vGPU in NVIDIA’s nView products. However one of the most exciting new features for end customers is the addition of two new vGPU types, the K120Q and the K220Q.
Below is a table, overviewing how the new vGPU specifications fit in with the other vGPUs. The K120Q and K220Q both have 512Mb of frame buffer, which means for some users they may be the perfect vGPU (not too small, not too large…. but just right!). Our own technical groups in XenDesktop and HDX 3D Pro are very keen to see how applications such as Unigine Heaven perform on these new vGPUs, and don’t forget to search our blogs for benchmarking advice and tools, and also for lots of tips and anecdotes!
