NetScaler continually raises the bar in the application delivery controller market. The current MPX 5650  model is now five times faster, with an HTTP throughput rating of 5 Gbps, and an even lower price.

On February 20, Citrix revealed a fivefold increase in HTTP capacity for the NetScaler MPX 5650 platform. This model is generally aimed at the entry-level market.

Now, with this turbo boost, even when running all features simultaneously, smaller enterprises and Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop and XenMobile customers can run all NetScaler modules even faster. SSL processing rates have doubled and compression rates have tripled to 2 Gbps and 3 Gbps respectively. SSL transactions per second have increased 40 percent to 2,800.

The existing NetScaler MPX 5550 appliance remains at 500 Mbps, so Pay-As-You-Grow and Burst Pack upgrades now offer a 10-fold expansion!

The new performance licenses including cluster license upgrades are orderable and shippable today. Existing MPX 5650 accounts with a valid maintenance agreement may upgrade to the new performance levels with no charge.

List pricing for the MPX 5650 model has been slashed by $2,000 for each edition, resulting in a starting price of $18,000 for NetScaler Standard Edition. See the PND for more details. A new NetScaler datasheet is live on Citrix.com/netscaler.
