Fellow Citrites, Community Members, Clients and Passer-bys:

I was recently updating one of my old XP systems in preparation for its conversion to the other side: the virtual world where it will be happier, protected and backed.  I say this with a heavy heart as – in the event you forgot – April 8th, 2014 will be the last day of extended support from Microsoft for Windows XP in accordance to their “Windows lifecycle fact sheet” (found here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle).

Windows lifecycle fact sheet?  That feels so antiseptic, degrading and rude to an OS that warmed its way into our hearts with its fluffy, green and blue attire.  I confess that I can’t believe it and I find it to be … a bummer.  Over a decade of Home-to-Enterprise level service, but alas… we all must move on and remember the good times.

So, in short… make sure your XP machines are up-to-date before it is put out to pasture.

And this is from my Virtual Desktop to you.
