iMessage, Whatsapp and Viber are all parts of the same Mobile Messaging pie and contribute to the same decline in SMS usage. The pie charts below show the distribution of messaging applications as used by iOS users. These statistics are taken from the Q4 2012 Mobile Analytics Report produced by Citrix ByteMobile. The statistics show that 94% of mobile subscribers that use messaging apps on the iPhone will use one of the top four messaging apps: Skype, WhatsApp, Viber and Facebook Messenger. This data provides genuine intelligence into which mobile messaging applications are the most popular. This data is anonymously sourced from a global cross-section of Citrix ByteMobile’s operator customers’ mobile networks.
