The momentum started with our XenServer 6.2 and open source announcements continues! I’m very pleased to announce the availability of a XenServer ‘Tech Preview.’ A Tech Preview is a consumable (but not production ready) snapshot of some technologies we are looking at for possible inclusion in a future XenServer release. There are a couple of very cool things about this particular tech preview:

  1. XenServer is installable on a vanilla CentOS 6.4 x86_64 system. Just download the RPMs and perform a yum install xenserver-core
  2. Integration with Ceph–a distributed object store and file system

Dave Scott has written up the details on how to get the tech preview up and running over in a blog article on the site. A wiki with further instructions is also provided on the same site. Links to instructions on setting up a ceph cluster from are included in Dave’s post.
