This was our first year in Southern California and Citrix Synergy in Los Angeles, May 22-24, was an action-packed week filled with exiting announcements in the keynote, lots of technical sessions and hands-on labs, a bustling Solutions Expo – and great peer-to-peer (or geek-to-geek ) networking opportunities for our attendees! But most importantly, we introduced a number of new solutions and services that will continue to help us shape mobility and transform the way people work.
Over six thousand of you were with us at the Anaheim Convention Center when CEO Mark Templeton kicked off the Synergy Keynote. We announced XenDesktop 7, the first release of what we have been calling “Project Avalon.” XenDesktop 7 will allow any business to mobilize Windows apps and desktops and deliver them as a cloud service to any device. And in one of the highlights of the show, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang joined Mark on stage for a demo of how XenDesktop 7 can remotely access physical GPU resources using NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology. The term “Extreme Saas-ification” was coined, and the graphics were truly spectacular to all in the crowd! Customers will be able to reap the benefits of this technology, with graphics acceleration on any platform, using any device, on any application.
As Mark emphasized during the keynote, mobility is dominating CIO mindshare. That’s why we are especially excited about XenMobile Enterprise. XenMobile Enterprise combines mobile device, app and data management, a corporate app store and mobile productivity apps into an inclusive solution for delivering mobile services to business. Part of that includes ShareFile StorageZone Connectors for Microsoft SharePoint and network drives – mobilizing your data no matter where you go! We also announced mobile productivity apps built for business – called Worx Mobile Apps. Citrix Chief Demo Officer Brad Peterson seamlessly zipped through the apps – just like any productive worker on the go can do now!
We also named the company’s eighth annual Citrix Innovation Award winner based on popular vote, and this year it was the University of Sao Paulo. A BIG congrats to USP! Our innovation award is designed to honor organizations adopting solutions to enable mobile workstyles. The university has created one of the largest IT cloud environments in Latin America and helped make education more mobile and easily accessible for a new generation of students. Kudos to our other innovation award finalists, Essar Group and Miami Children’s Hospital, for sharing their inspiring stories of business transformation and innovation with Citrix.
We proved we are not all work, and no play by kicking off Synergy with a welcome reception that included over 80 industry partners and sponsors, and closing it with one of the hottest parties of the year, including a performance by a Grammy Award-winning band.
This is just a taste of what we experienced in Los Angeles. Be sure to check out the keynote, top session videos and other event highlights on SynergyTV to re-live the experience! And, mark your calendars to join us next year for Synergy 2014 back in Los Angeles, May 6-8, at the Anaheim Convention Center. Until then let’s all continue to work better and live better!
