The IT world is moving solutions to the cloud at an unprecedented rate with any hosted service now being offered in the cloud. What’s more is that customers are picking it up – Gartner estimates that public cloud expenditure will grow by 41% to hit $206 billion in 2016.
There have been a number of studies that took a closer look at cloud computing from a customer’s perspective yet no-one has really dug deep in to the minds of suppliers……
IT Channel Insight recently interviewed people across a number of companies that are shaping the industry, including Asigra, Axcient, CA Technologies, Citrix, Dell, Google, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Rackspace, Red Hat, Salesforce, Shoretel, StorageCraft, Symantec and VMware. The report discusses the current state of the cloud industry and the benefits it provides to businesses. Highlighting insights from Citrix VP of Product Marketing – Peder Ulander, about how the swift transition to cloud computing models is being enabled by “more and more core business applications being designed as lightweight distributed applications rather than legacy software.” It also notes increased availability of cloud-based apps is crucial – vendors cannot sell something that is not available or immediately accessible, or expect people to move to an ecosystem that will not serve their needs.
