As you know, today we made an exciting announcement that we have entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Citrix. Combined following the closing, we’ll bring to market a comprehensive solution for managing and securing mobile devices, apps, and data. We at Zenprise are excited to join the Citrix family in early 2013*.

But that’s not the most interesting part.

A big driver behind our intention to combine forces is a shared vision. Besides each bringing a complementary piece of a whole enterprise mobility solution to the table, Citrix and Zenprise share a strong commitment to end-user choice and support of mobile workstyles.

For years, Citrix has been focused on creating great end-user experiences and helping people be productive on any device, anywhere. From its early days in the 90s supporting road warriors with secure remote access, to its more recent cloud and virtualization initiatives, Citrix has been all about user enablement.

For our part, Zenprise has been building on its secure device lifecycle management platform to help organizations secure and manage mobile apps and data, and do it in a way that harmonizes IT’s needs with the end-user experience. Last year we were the first MDM vendor to introduce Mobile DLP with secure access to Microsoft SharePoint.

End-user enablement is the driving force in both companies’ agendas. In today’s BYO world, users want mobile freedom to choose their own smartphones and tablets and use the productivity and business apps that help them get their jobs done. Organizations recognize that enabling this choice makes their employees happier and more productive and, in turn, contributes to the success of the organization. But in a world where users can lose or leak sensitive corporate data through device loss or by synchronizing content to a tapestry of cloud-connected endpoints, the need for mobile governance and security is paramount. This presents IT with the twin challenges of enabling user device and app choice while governing and securing mobile access and data.

Both Citrix and Zenprise see it as our job to reconcile these two worlds, giving IT the tools to protect the organization, but really coming up with ways to make life better for mobile users. By bringing complementary solutions to market that make it easy for businesses to say yes to any device and any app, providing tools that optimize app performance, and integrating offerings that bring productivity and collaboration together, we can change the game for end users.

Following the closing I look forward to becoming part of the Citrix team and helping our joint customers create a world where people can work and play from anywhere.
