Attending Citrix Synergy in Barcelona this week? Make sure to check out the CloudPlatform Community Pavilion area. All partners participating in the Pavilion have solutions that integrate with Citrix CloudPlatform, powered by Apache CloudStack, a proven open source cloud platform for building, managing and delivering highly scalable infrastructure-as-a-service clouds. New to Synergy Barcelona is a theater-style seating area next to the CloudPlatform Pavilion. Cloud ecosystem partners will be giving 10 minute presentations throughout the week during Expo Hall hours. See the theater session schedule at the bottom of this post.

Two of our CloudPlatform Pavilion partners, Cloudsoft and UShareSoft, also made it to the finalist list for Citrix Ready Best of Synergy 2012 in the Cloud category. These awards recognize the most innovative solutions based on Citrix technologies, supporting multiple product ecosystem categories. A panel of judges, consisting of executives & product leaders from Citrix selected the category finalists from the nominations. Make sure to stop by the Cloudsoft and UShareSoft pods in the CloudPlatform Community Pavilion and congratulate these partners on their achievement.

Duncan Johnston-Watt is a serial entrepreneur and industry visionary with over twenty years of experience in the software industry. Immediately prior to founding Cloudsoft Duncan was CTO at Enigmatec Corporation, the enterprise data center automation company he founded in 2001. A Computerworld Smithsonian Laureate for his pioneering work introducing Java Enterprise to financial services, Duncan holds an MSc in Computation from Oxford University and a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy from Leeds University.

Avid speaker and evangelist for Trend’s Security Solutions Suite for North American region, Bilal provides Subject Matter Expertise for projects on Deep Security/Secure Cloud and related technologies to teams in different regions across the world.

“Bridging the Gap Between Virtualization and Cloud”, Alban Richard, CEO, UShareSoft
UShareSof’ts UForge image template management platform makes it simple for customers to bridge applications from virtualization to cloud, and implement hybrid environments. Alban will discuss the benefits of taking a model-driven approach to server templates, supporting multi-hypervisors and building a hybrid infrastructure between public and private clouds based on Citrix CloudPlatform and Apache CloudStack.
Alban Richard is CEO of UShareSoft, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, including engineering, marketing and product management executive roles, with P&L and general management responsibilities. Prior to joining UShareSoft, Richard spent more than 18 years with Sun Microsystems in the US and France, most recently leading Sun’s Directory Server Enterprise Edition product line and managing the company’s R&D Engineering Center (GEC) in Europe. Richard is also a Board Member for the OW2 Consortium.

“Software Modeling and Onboarding to Cloud”, James Weir, CTO and Co-Founder, UShareSoft
This session will help you understand how to automate the creation and maintenance of cloud server templates for Citrix CloudPlatform and Apache CloudStack, helping you accelerate IT service delivery. James will show you how to assemble custom cloud server templates and publish directly to CloudStack.
James Weir is CTO and co-founder of UShareSoft, responsible for the company’s technology vision, strategy and activities. Weir is actively engaged with the business development and growth of UShareSoft, working hand-in-hand with strategic and technology partners. Prior to co-founding UShareSoft, Weir held several software development positions at Sun Microsystems and GEC Marconi.
