Info-Tech Research Group Recommendation: “Look closely at Citrix as an alternative to VMware. It offers many of the same features as VMware, but at a lower price point. In addition, if you are planning to go into an internal cloud infrastructure, Citrix is a viable option.”
As part of a product team, it’s always great to be recognized by industry analysts and to win awards for your product. Everyone from engineering to product management gets excited knowing that what they are building is having an impact on the market. The latest in a series of warm and fuzzies for the Cloud Platforms Group at Citrix is that XenServer was recognized for the second year in a row by Info-Tech Research Group as a leader in its Server Virtualization Vendor Landscape report.
In its 2012 report, Info-Tech Research Group recognized Citrix as a “Champion” in its Server Virtualization Vendor Landscape. Info-Tech defines Champions as “offering excellent value,” “having a strong market presence” and acting as “trend setters for the industry.”
Champion Award: “Citrixprovides a comprehensive server virtualization solution that is scalable with a good consolidation ratio. It has a strong development roadmap in Cloud infrastructure.”
Value Award: “Citrix is also the Value Award winner. In addition to providing a robust solution, it comes in at a much lower cost than many of its competitors.” Info-Tech Research Group notes that “Citrix maintained the highest Info-Tech Value ScoreTM of the vendor group. Vendors were indexed against Citrix’s performance to provide a complete, relative view of its product offerings.”
Knowing the hard work that goes into building a product like XenServer and competition in this space, it feels great to be publicly called-out for our efforts. Thank you to the over 100,000 Citrix customers using XenServer today and to the next 100,000 that we promise will enjoy the same technical and cost benefits as our existing customers.
