With just a few days to go before Citrix Synergy, the energy and excitement around the big event is seriously heating up. I am thrilled about the amazing array of special guests and entertainment that will be kicking it up a notch in San Francisco next week. It’s going to be a meeting of some of the best minds in our industry, talking about cloud computing and mobile workstyles – with lots of fun sprinkled in, of course! Let me give you a taste of what’s to come.
Synergy officially kicks off on Wednesday, May 9th with Citrix CEO Mark Templeton’s keynote, in which he’ll provide a provocative look at the major technology and societal forces driving business innovation today and into the future. As Mark will describe, enterprise IT organizations are at the intersection of several dilemmas: control versus freedom; the legacy of distributed computing versus the flexibility of cloud services; and a tech-savvy workforce demanding the power and simplicity of the devices and social apps they use at home in the workplace. The combined forces of consumerization and industrialization are forever changing IT – and Mark will offer lessons and examples from companies that are taking best advantage of the shift to the cloud era. Additionally, Mark will unveil the latest Citrix product news, as well as tech previews and demonstrations, which I find to be one of the most exciting aspects of Synergy!
On Thursday the general session stage will be overtaken by clouds. Sameer Dholakia, who heads our Cloud Platforms Group, will show why openness and interoperability are critical to cloud platforms – and why it’s important that Citrix moved CloudStack to the Apache Software Foundation. Sameer will talk about the necessary ingredients for building successful cloud infrastructure that supports a wide range of systems from hosted services to enterprise operations to gaming. He’ll be joined on stage by a variety of industry luminaries including cloud computing strategist Geva Perry, who will share surprising insights about the patterns of cloud adoption by enterprises, Indu Kodukula from Sungard, John Dillon and Bill Platt from Engine Yard, Michael Crandall from Rightscale and Nathan Day from SoftLayer.
While this promises to be heady, thought-provoking material about the future of clouds and mobility, let me assure you that Synergy will also provide sound advice on what you can be doing now to succeed in your careers and how IT professionals can be heroes with their users based on the approach they take to cloud computing and the consumerization of IT. Visit the full conference agenda to learn more, and don’t forget to visit the self-paced learning labs.
While in San Francisco, we all want to have some fun of course, too. The always rocking Synergy party will be held the evening of May 10th and will feature the award-winning rock band Lifehouse, one of my personal faves! Let’s get ready for “You and Me,” like it’s the “First Time” we’re all together at Synergy, and we’ll do “Whatever It Takes” to have a great time. (Yes, those are names of some of their hits and I do have them ALL on my iPod!
We hope to see you there, because, of course, Synergy is best experienced live and in person. There’s still space, and registration is easy.
If you can’t make it, we’re also going to have a range of options for those who want to catch the action online. Stay tuned for more information about the Watch Live! Program which will include content from Geek Speak Live! and the keynote. Signing up is easy.
