One year ago, at San Francisco Synergy 2011, it was announced that Citrix was acquiring a desktop virtualization company called Kaviza. In those short twelve months since we became a part of the Citrix team, we have released a completely revamped version of Citrix VDI-in-a-Box and shown that there is a brand new way to provide simple, affordable virtual desktops ideal for SMB environments.
In our SYN111 breakout session I will be joined by Senior Architect Mike Peercy, and also Principal Engineer Andrey Kovalenko to present a deep dive into the inner workings of VDI-in-a-Box. We plan to illustrate how VDI-in-a-Box was designed from the ground up to provide an all-in-one solution specifically for small and medium businesses. We will pop the hood and show how VDI-in-a-Box can eliminate 60 percent of the infrastructure found in traditional enterprise VDI architecture, without sacrificing the key functionality. For example, we will demonstrate how VDI-in-a-Box’s unique grid architecture can provide full high availability without the need for shared storage.
You will also learn the most efficient techniques for piloting your very first VDI deployment and scaling past your initial deployment seamlessly and efficiently. We will discuss the best practices for sizing your servers and planning for how much resources you will need for a particular deployment. We will then show you how we have simplified deployment to the point that it can take less than an hour. We will wrap it all up by showing you how we have integrated VDI-in-a-Box with other Citrix products to provide seamless remote access functionality, as well as profile management, and more!
We have a lot of exciting content lined up. Seating is first-come, first-serve, so make sure to get there first! We look forward to seeing you at Citrix Synergy San Francisco 2012!
