The other night my son asked “Dad, why do you have to blob?  Isn’t that an old monster movie?”  When I stopped laughing, I told him I had to blog, not blob.  But this little exchange reminded me of a recent conversation I had with a customer.
I asked the customer how they provide application management to their business customers; he said “We don’t.”  When I asked “Why?” he responded with “It takes too much time and money.  Our app portfolio is a blob of headaches and frustration.”  I told him his “application portfolio blob days are over.”  And then I proceeded to show him what I meant.
Currently, application portfolio management consists of manual processes to track and update applications in an enterprise portfolio, if done at all.  More likely it is just the annual application churn year in and out that constitutes an application portfolio.  There is no structure, there is little to no governance, it’s more like a blob eating away hours and dollars.
Imagine having the ability to “see” your application portfolio and plan a path for the future.  Did you know your applications can dictate which technology is best for your business?  Whether it’s a server based computing model using XenApp Hosted or RDS, to application virtualization like XenApp or App-V or even migrating your web applications from IE6-7 to IE 8-9, Citrix AppDNA application migration software is your answer.
