Below are steps I use to change from the new openvswitch to Linux bridge in order to change the XenServer network backend. Some people prefer standard Linux bridging as it is very well documented. Openvswitch is really only needed when you are doing enterrpise network management of XenServer networking via the Distributed Virtual Switch Controller (DVSC) VM.
- Disable HA (before any maintenance).
- Migrate VMs off of host.
- Enable Linux bridge mode via command line: xe-switch-network-backend bridge
- Migrate VMs back.
- Enable HA.
Changing to Linux bridge may be helpful if you believe there is an issue with a device driver, which may perform differently with Linux bridge.
