As I mentioned last week, Citrix Synergy isn’t just about inspiration, it’s also about recognizing real innovation in our industry. One of my favorite parts of the show has always been seeing the winner of the Citrix Innovation Award announced, which is guaranteed to get the opening Synergy keynote off to a flying start!

One of the reasons that this award is so important is that the winner is selected by all of you – our partners, customers and employees. Moreover, it reflects an organization’s truly innovative use of Citrix technology to achieve significant business transformation. This year’s competition has proved to be even fiercer than ever, with a tremendous response on our video voting site, which showcased our three finalists’ innovative and creative use of virtual computing technology.

After all of your votes had been counted, Citrix CEO and President Mark Templeton took to the stage today at Synergy Barcelona to announce the winner. I’d like to offer huge congratulations to Deutsche Bank, the 2011 Citrix Synergy Barcelona Innovation Award winner chosen overwhelmingly by you!

As one of the world’s largest and most successful financial services organizations, Deutsche Bank has enhanced the way its 100,000 employees in 73 countries work by allowing traders and other employees to access the db New Workplace, powered by Citrix virtual computing technology, from any device, anywhere throughout the bank’s global offices.

Employees can now connect instantly with specialized, high-bandwidth systems, accessing their virtual desktop and collaboration tools such as high-definition video conferencing. Deutsche Bank has also enabled new strategies for workplace optimization, workshifting, business recovery and secure vendor access. The solution supports the Bank’s sustainability strategy, as well as enhancing business continuity and enabling new flexible ways of working for its employees across the globe.

A huge thanks to all of you who voted this year – we really appreciate your input!

Once again, I’d like to extend my personal congratulations to Deutsche Bank, but please also join me in recognizing the tremendous achievements of all the 2011 Innovation Award finalists, including KT Corporation and Royal Bank of Scotland Group. I know you too will continue to be inspired by their stories of innovation for many months to come.
