Well, finally it is Monday and Summit is kicking off!

The CCIB is already busy with our partners from across the world in their first breakout sessions.  I’m looking forward to catching up with a few over lunch to find out how they’ve been.

It’s not even keynote time (that’s at 2pm) and we’ve made our first announcement… Citrix VDI-in-a-Box 5.  You can find out more about it here from Kumar Goswami’s blog.  It’s basically an all-in-one desktop virtualisation solution for small and medium businesses.

On the desktop virtualisation note, I’d urge you all to check out our Desktop Transformation Centre. This glass-enclosed, onsite datacenter located outside the Solutions Expo Hall, just to the left of registration, is a production example of Desktop Transformation in action. With the support of alliance partners, the Desktop Transformation Centre will provide the backbone for the event and support areas throughout Synergy where you can experience a virtual branch delivery of Microsoft® Office 2010 to Wyse thin clients using XenDesktop.

Look for the “Powered by Citrix” signs throughout the event highlighting the support from the datacentre.

To support the datacentre and provide the framework necessary to support the demands for the event, the datacentre infrastructure was provided by Cisco and Dell. Cisco provided their Cisco Unified Computing Solution with Blade Servers and additional complementing technologies, and Dell supplied their Dell Desktop Virtualisation Solution with their Integrated Solution Stack.
