Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been speaking to a number of our sponnsors at Synergy so that I can point you in the direction of some cool announcements and demonstrations – without spoiling any surprises, of course.  Here are a few snippets with more to come over the coming days as I gather the information:

RIM – main focus will be on the Citrix Receiver on PlayBook.  I can’t wait to play with the device so will be heading to RIM’s stand myself.  Also, RIM will be showcasing the Citrix Receiver on the new BB7 BlackBerry smartphones.  I’ve been assured there are lots of funky new features with the Receiver on PlayBook so definitely check it out.

App-DNA – is giving attendees the opportunity to have a no charge application assessment at its stand.  It will test the ‘DNA’ of your application to determine (amongst other things) the compatibility of the app with Windows 7, Citrix XenApp and Microsoft App-V.

RES – will be making announcements around Workspace Manager Express and Automation Manager 2012.  Also, its CTO, Bob Janssen will be joining a Geek Speak panel around desktop transformation on Wednesday at 5.30pm.

Intel – lots to see at its stand including… a Cloud On Boarding demonstration featuring Citrix NetScaler running on Intel Xeon processors; a FlexCast on XenClient demonstration running all of the FlexCast delivery models on a single XenClient laptop; and a McAfee Move A/V that shows how offloading anti-virus procession to an appliance or service boosts VM density for VDI.

Fujitsu – plans to showcase how its products and services for Virtual Client Computing are reshaping the workplace such as  Zero Clients, FUTRO Thin Clients with XenDesktop and LIFEBOOK laptops with XenClient.  Its Private Sector Business Unit CTO, Colin Bradford, will also be hosting a breakout session on Wednesday at 15:30 about virtual client services and large scale desktop transformation.
