Are you ready for Synergy Barcelona 2011? I am. The Citrix Events Team is currently deep in planning and we’re very excited about this event, which takes place 26-28 October, 2011. Earlier this year, due to my role on the team as the Synergy Solutions Expo and sponsorship program manager, I traveled to Barcelona and had a great time exploring the city and experiencing the local culture, architecture, food and the beach. Of course, it was not all Cava and paella, as I dove in with the team on hours of planning meetings as we worked on building a great Synergy event. I am looking forward to revisiting this wonderful city when we return in October for Synergy.

The Synergy convention center is going to be a great venue for the event. The International Convention Centre of Barcelona (CCIB) is modern, easy to navigate, large enough for even more activities than last year and best of all has views of the ocean. At the CCIB, expect a cool Solutions Expo hall as a result; larger space means more booths, more interactions, and more demos. It’s a gorgeous facility!

As the sponsorship manager for Barcelona, I want to let you know a lot of hard work went into recruiting our line-up of sponsors. More than 40 leading-edge businesses will be showcasing their products, services and solutions in the Synergy Solutions Expo, so attendees will have plenty to see and do while at the event. Platinum sponsors include AppSense, Dell, HP, Intel, RES Software and Wyse. As part of my blogging about our sponsors, and providing updates on the program, each blog will feature a spotlight on one of our great line up of sponsors.

This week: Intel.

Sponsor Spotlight:

In collaboration with Citrix and other ISVs, Intel has developed a point of view and solutions that help enterprises strike the right balance among user experience, IT control, costs and flexibility. Intel is focused on building intelligence into desktop virtualisation strategies, with a perspective on desktop virtualisation that spans traditional desktop management and emerging techniques including remoting, streaming, virtualisation and layering.

I encourage you to stop by the Intel booth to see a demo of cloud on-boarding, which shows how you can achieve interoperability of enterprise VMs and a public XenCloud environment by enabling federation between the enterprise and public cloud data centers. Intel will also show how an intelligent PC client supports all of the Citrix FlexCast delivery models and provides a superior user experience without sacrificing manageability. In addition, the Intel booth will showcase McAfee Management for Optimized Virtual Environments (MOVE) AntiVirus (AV) 2.0 which optimizes and offloads the AV processing function for XenDesktop, thereby helping to increase VM density. Take the IDV challenge on Intel’s Touch Screen game to test your intelligence and win a gift card.

Thanks for reading my first blog, and if you haven’t already signed up to attend Synergy Barcelona, now is the time. Our sponsors are planning lots of great demos and giveaways, and are eager to talk solutions and services when you get there in our improved Solutions Expo. I hope to see you there!
