Most of all the XenServer entoushiasts know that XenServer is able to create heterogeneous pools where you can pool physical hosts with different CPU types. How this works in detail is described quite good in the CTX article CTX127059 (Understanding Heterogeneous CPU Pooling in XenServer 5.6 ) and from a technical point of view there is nothing to add.

Most of the scenarious are very easy but there is one section which is describing the way how to manually calculate the joint mask. For all of you looking for a easy way to calculate a common CPU mask of two different CPU masks I have created a small tool called CMB-Tool which will create a common CPU mask for you.
