Hi from Las Vegas! Over the next few days, I will be hanging out with my Citrix colleagues at Cisco Live! We are very excited to be part of this year’s event – it will be our first US Cisco Live as major Cisco partners. And, let me tell you, it has been quite a year!
In September of last year, Citrix and Cisco announced the Cisco Desktop Virtualization Solution with Citrix XenDesktop. This solution was designed to make it easier and more cost effective for businesses to deploy high-definition virtual desktops to all users enterprise-wide…and we succeeded! Our joint solution can deliver 20% lower cost for compute and network infrastructure, 60% greater virtual desktop density with no effect on performance, fast deployment and the ability to scale with ease.
Want to see this in action? Come visit our booth! There you will see:
- The latest capabilities in XenDesktop 5, such as HDX multimedia capabilities, voice and video inside a virtual desktop, and full session roaming between a wide variety of devices.
- XenClient running full offline virtual desktops to show how Citrix allows your mobile users to take their desktops “to-go”.
- Citrix Receiver connecting to XenDesktop on a wide variety of devices, such as a Cisco Cius and the VXC2100 and VXC2200 thin clients. To take this one step further, we will show how these devices and virtual desktops integrate with Cisco IP phones, Cisco Unified Call Manager and Cisco Unified Personal Communicator.
- The devices above or other consumer devices, such as an iPad, Motorola Atrix and Xoom, connecting to a Cloud-based XenDesktop environment with standard office apps as well as the Cisco Jabber client (personal communicator) software.
You will also have the opportunity to come to the Citrix Theatre (in our booth) and hear about XenDesktop as well as how some of our partners, like EMC, NetApp and Intel, are creating solutions directly for our market leading desktop virtualization solution. Finally, if you visit the Wyse booth, you will see Cisco VXI, Citrix XenDesktop and Cisco UC on FlexPod hosted by MTM Technologies live using a FlexPod in their Boston lab!
Hear it from a Customer: Jake Hughes and Seattle Children’s Hospital Choose XenDesktop on Cisco UCS
In addition, we will have a great session at 9:00 AM on Thursday entitled “Citrix XenDesktop And Cisco UCS – Delivering Superior Scalability, User Experience and Cost Savings”. Jake Hughes from Seattle Children’s Hospital will lead this session with one of my favorite Sales Engineers, Sean Connelly. Jake and team are doing a lot with desktop virtualization and has this to say, “Citrix XenDesktop and Cisco UCS are the foundation for our success with desktop virtualization.”
There is so much going on this week and I am so excited to be part of it. Again, please come say hi to all of us at the booth – we have some great T-shirts, iPads, pens, bags to give away (yes, bribes to visit us)! And, I want to personally wish Cisco good luck on their biggest event of the year. Thank you for letting us be part of it.
