Learn from the Best, Then Rock Out With Train!

OK, I apologize in advance for name dropping, but I am so excited about all the VIP presenters at Citrix Synergy this May. Yes, we always have a stellar line-up of industry luminaries, and this year is no exception. Let me tell you about our keynote presenters and the CIOs who will be leading many of the breakout sessions. Be sure to read to the end to hear about Grammy award winner Train’s performance! And by the end of Synergy, I bet you’ll be name dropping too…

Of course there is Citrix CEO Mark Templeton, who will open Synergy by laying out his vision for the promise and future of virtual computing. You can expect his trademark technology previews, and he’s likely to have a few surprises up his sleeves as well!

We’ve got two amazing leaders speaking during the Day Two general session,  including Michael Mestrovich, senior technology officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), a DoD combat support agency, who will describe his desktop virtualization technology choices and deployment plans. As you can imagine, the defense sector is subject to more scrutiny and rigor in its computing practices than most large organizations, yet they face similar challenges in ensuring seamless delivery of desktops, data and applications to users around the world.

We’ll also hear from Wyse Technology president and CEO, Tarkan Maner, a global evangelist for cloud computing, who will explain his top three trends, myths and predictions about the cloud. Come prepared to hear some surprising facts about the pervasiveness of cloud computing and where it’s really headed.

Beyond the keynotes, you won’t want to miss the IT Business and Strategy Track, produced by CIO Magazine and specifically designed to help senior IT leaders confront today’s most urgent issues, such as supporting mobile users and personal devices in the workplace, reducing costs and streamlining collaboration. CIOs from major companies in higher education, financial services and technology, will lead these sessions, including:

  • CA Technologies
  • Cisco
  • Citibank
  • Fox Group
  • Fujitsu
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Kraft Foods
  • Lionsgate Entertainment
  • Pacific Life Insurance Company
  • Scottsdale Community College

As I said, an impressive C-level line-up that you cannot afford to miss! And there are more great speakers planned every day at Synergy. Still, it can’t be all work and no play, so I am very excited to tell you that the Grammy-award winning group Train will be performing at the Synergy Party on Thursday, May 26.  I’m a big fan of their music and think my iPod has every song they’ve ever officially released including “Hey Soul Sister” off their latest album (hey, are they still called albums??), “For Me It’s You” and “Meet Virginia.”  It’s also very fitting that their new hit is called “Save Me San Francisco” – it’s a great tribute to the city!

With that, I feel compelled to modify (slightly) our tagline for the Synergy event: it’s the ultimate place to get inspired, learn, network … and have fun! Register now! We will see you in San Francisco, and don’t forget to pack your dancing shoes.
