As those of you who know me are aware, when I joined Citrix at the end of last year to run the newly conceived Startup Accelerator I was pretty darned excited. I wrote then that it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to resource entrepreneurs as they strive to build the next great companies.  Doing it on a global scale was a daunting thought but starting today, we’re doing it.

While we have closed several investments and have a healthy pipeline, from the beginning we wanted this program to have global reach.  Citrix has an international innovation footprint with R&D facilities on four continents, so we have focused the Citrix Startup Accelerator – Global Challenge 2011 on five innovation centers:  Asia Pacific (Sydney), India (Bangalore), Europe (Cambridge), and North America (Boston, Silicon Valley).

We’re taking applications from entrepreneurs globally for the next several months with a focus on today’s top technology trends (cloud +mobile) and asking you to tell us how you’ll combine these into compelling user experiences that solve business problems and simplify our digital lives (work + play).

Check out the What we’re looking for and How do you apply sections and join us if you’re ready for a challenge.  We’ll announce the winners, up to six with funding up to $400k USD each, the week of the 4th of July.  That will mean some real independence for the deserving winners.
