On Saturday, I blogged about the Verizon-Terremark acquisition and the beginnings of the consolidation trend in telecommunications and cloud computing, as a proof point of the ready-for-prime-time transition of cloud computing.

I closed with the thought that: “As with the cloud itself, this is only the beginning.”

However, I figured I’d probably wait more than three or four days till the next salvo.

Silly me. Late yesterday, Time Warner Cable announced that it will acquire NaviSite, “providing the company with a successful managed services business and a new, innovative managed cloud platform with significant new growth opportunities.”

This move takes Time Warner Cable Business Class beyond connectivity as it helps accelerate cloud computing into mainstream IT.

Who’s next?
