HP and Citrix have been strong partners in a number of key technology markets, but haven’t collaborated much in the networking arena – until now. We just announced that the Citrix NetScaler VPX virtual appliance now integrates with HP E-Series data center switches. For the first time, enterprises can converge two core data center capabilities, LAN switching and L4-7 load balancing, into a single device. HP and Citrix can not only reduce the number of discrete devices in the network, but also lower overall opex and improve the performance of web applications.

We recently received third-party certification of our integration with the HP zl services module for the 5400 and 8200 series switches, providing our joint customers assurance of interoperability between HP and NetScaler VPX. Customers can integrate the same NetScaler VPX that runs on off-the-shelf servers into the core and aggregation layers of their network. Every NetScaler edition is supported, including Platinum Edition, featuring our application firewall.

How are we bringing this to market? We are already leveraging common worldwide channel partners to sell, deploy and configure the joint Citrix + HP solution.

With this integration, the exact same NetScaler functionality that powers the world’s leading web sites is now available on HP E-series switches! For those who haven’t been paying attention: application networking is getting virtualized and is making convergence simple.
