Transcript : In this demo, I wanted to show you how XenClient, our forthcoming bare metal local virtualization desktop platform, can allow you to run both business and personal computing environments on the same device, but keep them very secure and isolated. So I’ve got a Dell laptop here, and it’s got the Intel Centrino 2 technology and the Intel vPro technology, and it’s running a pre-release version of XenClient. So what we can see here is, I’ve got my personal environment up on the screen—this happens to be running Windows Vista. And I have my personal applications, so I can listen to my music with iTunes. I might have my video editing software in here. I might actually be watching my own video, so I can spin app my high def video here. So this is sort of my personal space, my sandbox, and I can install my own applications here. And then, you know, one of the great things about XenClient is the ability to run multiple environments on the same machine at the same time. So I can flip up here to our switcher bar and select my business computing environment. So this is switching me over to the other virtual machine. And this one’s running Windows XP, and I’ve got Office running, so you can see all my business applications. I’ve got Excel here and PowerPoint. Now this environment, unlike the personal environment which is very open, this one’s locked down. It’s centrally managed by IT. They back it up for me automatically. So they’ve got really tight controls over it. In fact, to the point where if I plug in a USB key, they might not even let me copy the files off this system that way. I might have to send it through the e-mail system, so all the content scanners can run. So this gives IT all the control they want over their business computing environment. But then I get my own personal sandbox, where I can have my own applications. I can have my videos, and it’s totally separate. IT doesn’t have to worry about it, they don’t have to manage it. And you saw how I’ve been flipping between the two with the switcher bar. You can also hit hot keys. So I can hit a key on the keyboard, and I’ll flip between the two environments and flip back very easily. So it’s very seamless kind of moving between the two environments. So thanks a lot for taking a look at how XenClient allows you to run both business and personal environments on the same device. We invite you to visit citrix.com/XenClient to learn lots more about this exciting new technology.
