Transcript : So during this How To video, I’m going to talk you through how to deploy Citrix Clients, via Web Interface 5.2. If, like me, you’ve installed Web Interface 5.2 and chose not to install the clients during the installation, you need to manually copy over the clients into the appropriate directory host installation. So I’ve just finished downloading certain clients from citrix.com. And I’ve located them on my desktop. So I’ve downloaded the Mac plug-in, the online web client plug-in, and the java client. Okay? So, first thing, you need to browse to the location of where the clients need to be copied to. So, Program Files\Citrix\Web Interfaces\the version, in my case 5.2.0\Clients. So underneath here, you need to locate certain files. So, for example, if you wanted to install the online plug-in, you need to create a folder at the Windows client. So I need to create a folder called Windows. The online plug-in. I need to create a new folder called online plug-in. If it’s the offline plug-in, then you’d create a similar folder called offline plug-in. So let’s now copy the clients in there in one second. I also want to create a folder called java, and another one called Mac. Okay. So, let me go back to my desktop. This time I need to copy the files in. But before I do it, I just want to demonstrate what happens if you don’t have any clients located in these directories. And you don’t have a client installed on your desktop, as in my case. And you try to log in to Web Interface. The client detection will detect that you have no client, and it will redirect you to citrix.com. But what you want to do, is you want to avoid your users being redirected to citrix.com, because it’s too confusing as to which client to download, and where to find it. And, ideally, you should have these clients located on your web server. So, I’ve come to my log on page. I’m going to authenticate. The client detection will kick in. It’s detected that I don’t have a client installed, and it’s prompted me to download a client. So if I click on Download Client, as you can see, it redirects to citrix.com. So, I want to avoid doing that. So what I want to do instead (I’ve just got to log off here), I’m going to copy the clients that I’ve downloaded into the appropriate directory. So, I have the online plug-in, which I will copy into the online directory. I have the Mac client. Again, just purely for the example, I’ll copy it over. And, lastly, the java file into the java directory. Okay, so that’s done. So, if I go to my web interface management console, I choose my web site. And, on the right, if I go to Client Deployment--again, if I wanted to deploy the client for java, I would choose that. I already declined. But, in this case, I just want to test with the online plug-in. I go to Properties. Client Detection. And again, I’m just going to leave it at defaults for now. So, perform client detection at plug-in. And, on the detection process, Complete. The message screen will display whenever a client is needed. So that should prompt me to download the online plug-in in this case. So, let’s leave that at the defaults. I launch my browser, and I’ll proceed to log in to Web Interface again. And let’s see what happens this time. So again, detection takes place. Slightly different screen. So this time, I’m just going to check the box to accept the license agreement. And when I click download this time, it should run the installation from the web server. So, as you can see now, it’s actually found a suitable client on my web server, and now it’s prompting me to install the client. So that’s the process to make clients available to download from the web server. There’s more information on this process in the Knowledge Center, which will point you to the e-docs.

anonymous - <P>Thank you for the video. I haven't been able to get this to work. Perhaps it's because the previous admin installed WI onto D:\Program Files\ instead of C:\Program Files\.</P> <P>I'll research some more.</P> <P>In any case, thanks for the video!</P>

anonymous - <P>Oops (am the below "anonymous" poster)... I messed up on the configuration detailed at <A href="http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123001">http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123001</A>.</P> <P>It's working now. What happened was that I put the CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe into the ...\Clients\Windows\Online Plug-in folder (as per this video), and I noticed that CTX123001 shows that WebInterface.conf expects it to be in ..\Clients\ica32 folder.</P>

anonymous - Great video.  This really helped to fix my issue!

anonymous - I havent read any documentation that says the clients folder moved from \Clients\ica32, luckily I came across your vid.  Good Job, Thank you much.

anonymous - Works great if you are using IE, I would like to see this same example using a MAC, which still redirects to the Citrix Website.
