Appcara was founded to solve the issues of provisioning and managing enterprise applications in cloud computing environments. According to analyst firms Gartner Group and IDC, the market for applications in the cloud is projected to grow to $67B by 2015. To address this growing need, the Appcara team was formed and is lead by seasoned CEO and founder John Yung, who brings nearly two decades of experience in managing complex applications for Fortune 500 customers with managed hosting companies such as Savvis and Equinix. The Appcara team previously created the Gartner Magic-Quadrant Savvis Symphony VPDC cloud service, launched into the market in 2009. Their team includes architects, designers and business leaders from cloud computing and service providers including Savvis, Equinix, Pointcast, Flycast, Amplidata and Q-layer.

Appcara’s flagship product AppStack has been purpose-built to address the complex challenges of launching and managing complex, multi-tier applications in public and private clouds. AppStack is built on patent-pending data model-driven technology. Its approach enables the system to manage applications of any complexity, including those consisting of multiple servers, applications and interdependencies. The components can be developed in multiple languages or environments, freeing users from the single language constraints common in today’s PaaS environments. Moreover, the model-driven approach enables ongoing lifecycle management from an easy-to-use portal. It is in contrast to other approaches that depend on static and unmanaged server templates.

AppStack also enables Service Providers and Enterprises to establish application marketplaces, with self-service for ISV’s and resellers to package and publish commercial applications for use in an on-demand capability. Appcara today has customers in global service providers and telecommunications companies, who leverage AppStack to enable application services on their infrastructure (IaaS) clouds, and is CitrixReady certified for customers utilizing Citrix CloudPlatform technology as the basis of their infrastructure cloud.
